If you understood Islam you would have realised that Muhammad is credited as the person who though years of revelation had Allah's word and commandment revealed to him, to be recorded as what is now known as the Quran.
Muhammad executed no one for insulting the Quran, in fact there is no edict in in the Quran that the text itself is sacred, it is held that the word of Allah is sacred.
Muhammad, did execute those who had attacked him, and been his enemies, but who refused to convert, or belonged to tribes who refused to convert. *edit*These events are recorded, in the holy texts themselves, they could only be considered "at war" if you use the modern term of attacking "non-combatant" citizen followers of opposing (not even attacking) tribes (sound familiar?). Curious thought, but actually denying that this happened would be to deny the validity of the Quran! *end of edit*
The politics of the area at that time are complex, with no countries as we would recognise them in the region (modern countries in the region did not appear until the 20th century). Instead the region was ruled by kingdoms, city states, and tribes often with only a blurred distinction between them.
All the above is a great over simplification, and I'm sure will upset people on many levels, but if anyone can cram the detail into a paragraph or two I'll gladly withdraw my attempt above.
*For the record I'm an atheist.
**I'm trying not to be hateful in the above - it is a straight reading of the information. I have disdain (not hatred) for most religions, and believe that we should judge their strengths and weaknesses on the actions for their followers and any lasting effect those religions have had on our societies.
***No hate mail please, if you disagree then post your own better/balanced version, or report me, but no more personal attacks by mail please.

Not sure about that. but I know that Muhammad ordered killing of a poet for simply making a poem against him . and to think quran said he was sent as a mercy to the world. can you say thanks but no thanks

When that stones thrown at him happened, he wasn't yet a powerful leader and he didn't have many followers. so of course he had no means to punish these kids. and he cannot tell a god that does not exist to punish them either. what loving god would offer such option, does that mean Muhammad was more merciful than his god? isn't that contradictory to the quran?

prophet Muhammed (saws) was peace ful , when you are at war that is another issue.
Now He (saws) was spreading the word of Allah and many people turned away from that. in Fact one town throw stuff at him until he bled, and later angel Gebrial came down o him and said that Allah will destroy them if you want hoever the prophet (saws) did not choose to destroy them.
keep an open mind and look up people who reverted to islam listen to thier reasons
may Allah guide you to the straight path
