Electric meter running.?

I have a 700 square foot mobile home. We bought it new 3 years ago. Our electric bill usually runs $120 a month. Last month it was $350 and we have used over twice as much as we did last month making our bill close to $1000. How is this possible? Could it be a bad meter? Our heat works just fine and doesn't run any longer than usual. However, when we turn it on the meter spins really fast. What could be wrong?

the air and the heat are on two separate breakers. It does not run like that when the air is on, only the heat. We can turn the heat off and it stops spinning that fast.

This didn't start happening until I had our storage room hooked up with power. They are on separate meters , but on the same transformer. Could something have happened during installation?

Electric heater relay is stuck in possibly. I've seen it happen before.

This sounds to me like there is a loose lug somewhere. That takes alot more amperage to bridge the connection and uses up massive amounts of power. Also, go out the the condenser unit and either pull the plug fuse or turn it off with the little small handle. There's NO reason to heat the refrigerant at this point. Its winter. Just remember to get the power BACK to the compressor AT LEAST 24 hours before you intend to run said compressor...

Get a certified sparky out there to check all the big volt/amp connections.

(edit #2) Ok, then thats the key. The extra room and the power going to it, is somehow hooked up wrong. It may have a floating neutral or some way some voltage is "leaking" somewhere. I know that is aterm used mostly with plumbing. Get your VOM meter out, start separating and locking out circuits (you will have to do this with it live in some cases) and figure out which wire is leaking voltage..... its being used and wasted somewhere....... bottom line

With pre pay meters you have an emergency era of electricity at an identical time as your funds runs out. it relatively is commonly round £7 or there abouts. So this covers you for a given era of time wherein to placed extra funds onto your meter card.
