Is 2040 a good SAT score?

This was my first time taking it (I'm taking it again in a few months) and I decided not to study at all. Is this good? I got a 710 in Critical Reading, a 660 in Math, and a 670 in Writing. On my essay, I got a 9 (on a scale of 2-12) - is this good? I'm usually good at writing, although not so much on standardized tests. Any tips for writing in a small amount of time space (I used every second on my essay, with no planning this time)? Thanks!

800 is perfect for each section, and all total a perfect is 2400.

It is an excellent score, and puts you in the 95th Percentile of all students who write the test. Your score of 9 in the essay section would be in around the 87th Percentile, so your essay was not nearly as strong as you did on the question portion of the Writing section.

Tips: Use bigger words, like Plethora, myriad, ideology, etc. - you'll get a higher score.

Your score will get you into a top 100 University, though.

I guess it's good. What's a perfect score these days? It was 1600 back when I took the SAT's.
