Need help on how to fill out turbo tax form for AECOM Govt. contractors?

if you are a civilian contractor for the US Army working in Afghanistan and you go to file taxes, in turbo tax it asks' if you have worked outside the United States but don't check here if you were employed by the U.S. Government or its agencies. If you work for AECOM, ManTech, KBR etc. are you considered Government or federal employees also for tax purposes? Do you still have to pay taxes on the first $93,000.00 if you claimed exempt or even if you didn't? Please only respond if you are a professional tax person or you know what you are talking about with proof.

1099-MISC form self employed independent contractor RIGHT.
Do NOT have a employer at all RIGHT.
Or do you have a W-2 form from one of the above named companies for the 2012 tax year.
Go to the www.irs.gov website and use the search box for Publication 54 (2012), Tax Guide for U.S. Citizens and Resident Aliens Abroad

www.irs.gov/publications/p54/index.html

Then go to the chapter 4. Foreign Earned Income and Housing: Exclusion – Deduction

www.irs.gov/publications/p54/ch04.html

Hope that you find the above enclosed information useful. 02/18/2013
