Did Danica Really Qualify Fastest Or Did She Get Some Affirmative Action?
I believe Mike Helton gave Danica a special restrictor plate for qualifying just to get her on the pole and increase TV viewers and commercial rates.

Well I want to thank all you fans for some dedicated answers, but I as an ex NHRA, NASCAR, SCRA, ARA, member and racer for over 40 years from drags to demolition derby to dirt cars, USAC sprint cars, ASA stock cars, All racing organizations have favorite drivers and owners, and all racers cheat at one time or another during their career. We have a saying in racing "winning cheaters and legal losers". Believe me NASCAR is the king of cheating and cheaters. NASCAR was invented by outlaws running liquor. Sports is big money these days and increasing viewers is always the goal.
NASCAR never cheats, is like saying Barry Bonds never cheats, Lance Armstrong never cheats, or Tiger Woods never cheats.

Yeah Curtis you are exactly right, NASCAR has rigged the game.
CURTIS -- HE KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT NOTHING WHEN IT COMES TO NASCAR. BEING THAT ALL CARS ARE INSPECTED BEFORE AND AFTER THE RACE, SO THERE IS NO CHANCE ON MODIFYING THE CAR OR DO ANYTHING ELSE ILLEGAL. You believe wrong, unless you have some actual evidence. And no, "I read a thing online from some guy who knows someone who talked to an "insider" who swears it happened" does not count as evidence.
Do you have a clue about how close qualifying is? She drove a better line, may have had some good luck with the wind, and that made the difference.

The new software they are using on TV is great. On qualifying day they showed exactly how and where she won it, by using a different, slightly lower line. Of course, she will always have haters, that think that NA$CAR, (NFL etc,) is fixed. So, why do they bother watching? Why not just watch Pro Wrestlin', where it is fixed. They don't deny it, "Wrestlin" , they call it entertainment, which it is, for those who watch. They ARE in very good condition, I'll give them that.
No, I am not saying she will win, but I think she will surprise a lot of haters, she is a rookie, remember? When was the last time, a ROOKIE had to take this much heat? Her biggest worry, is the same as every other driver out there. Getting caught up in "someone else wreck"
I think this is Tony Stewart's year. He can drive any car at any track. A brand new car like this, I think that's a big advantage for Tony. But, any car in the top 20, that is not a lap down on the last lap, has a chance at Daytona. Tony successfully made the transition from Indy cars (open wheel) to Cup Cars. Who else, has won a CHAMPIONSHIP, at both the Cup level, (multples) AND in a Major open wheel series (Indy) He is Danica's best hope. But I think it will take a couple years for her to adjust to the bigger, heavier cars. I am starting to become a fan, just because she is handling herself pretty well, for all the crap she gets, that she doesn't deserve. She's not the reporter, asking the questions, or the producer, who decides what they shots they show, and what the don't,
I would also like to see other drivers get more face time.
