I got my medical records from an office in Idaho to take to a specialist for further treatment. Are they allowed to charge me for them since it was for further treatment. If yes or no Why? I didn't think they were allowed to if it was for further treatment.

They can charge you for making the copies, not for the information itself.

CJ is right.I work in a medical office and the records that are at their office belongs to the Doctor.Now if you want them for free , sign a release of information form and they will forward them for free.I know its a stupid rule but those records do belong to your Doctor not you.I have been working in a Doctors office for over 25 yrs and do know this is correct.Good luck on seeing the specialist.
