It can be a bing toolbar or bing search engine.
If it is search engine, try the following:
– open internet explorer
– click on tools
– select internet options
– in general tab, and under search tab, click on settings
– click on search providers
– select another search engine, such as google and highlight it
– once highlighted, click on set as default
– highlight the bing search engine and then select remove
– click on close and then ok
– restart explorer
If it is a toolbar, do the following:
– open internet explorer
– click on tools
– select internet options
– click on programs tab
– click on manage add ons
– click on toolbars and extension
– highlight bing toolbar
– click on disable
– click on close and then ok.

Not an expert but this worked for me after a LOT of frustration. I have windows 8 and you cannot get rid of the search box from the control panel.
Open Internet Explorer -
1.Click the "alt" button on your keyboard - At the top of the screen, a menu with the words "file edit view favorites tools help" will appear.
2.Click on tools and a long list of items will appear.
3.Click on "manage add-ons". A new window will appear
4.Click on the tab labeled "search providers"
5.Click on the word bing (it will highlight in blue)
6. At the bottom of the new box there will be two boxes that can be checked or unchecked.
7. Unclick the box that says " Search in the address bar and the search box on the new tab page"
That should remove it. Good Luck. I finally figured this out at 4 in the morning after MUCH frustration!

I am not finding it! Using Windows 7 and IE. Bing is evil, and won't even allow me to go directly to some websites if I put them in the address bar.
In Internet Options, under General, THERE IS NO SEARCH TAB ANYWHERE. I'm stuck.
