installed a new monitor and it says to change resolution to 1440x900 but only goes to 1024x768?

You may need to upgrade your graphics card to get resolution higher or in the monitor setup look to see if there is a setting to disable message

I'm looking into monitors myself. The resolution given for a monitor is usually its maximum resolution so I'm guessing that any resolution up to that maximum will work. At least I'm hoping that's the case because there's no such thing as a monitor with the same maximum resolution as a laptop screen.
I wouldn't disable the message "just in case". I'd clear it and proceed. I set up a friend's monitor for her laptop last year and don't remember having any hassles with the difference in resolution. I probably wasn't paying attention and just cleared the message.

Did you install the drivers disk for the monitor, they usually have one, or you can download it from the manufactures website. That is, if you want to change it to 1440X900, sounds like an odd resolution. 1024X768 is more common.

sure the video high quality would be deceresed somewhat yet you wouldnt fairly be conscious something. attempt that and if u think of the video high quality is decresased then merely bypass fo 1920 x 1080 together as wattching video clips

Might be something to do with your graphics card, see if you can upgrade the driver from your driver maker.
