Help for submissive peeing dog.?

Our sch/terrier is driving us insane. He is a major submissive pee-er and we can't seem to discourage it. He's the worst for my husband. DH can't even play with him or talk to him without a puddle, which is really depressing. But even I have to be super careful around him to avoid messes. I was a groomer for 18 years and specialized in scared/ shy animals, but I can 't seem to do anything with this guy. He's never been treated harshly here, and although a chicken is not mean or snappy at all. He's a sweet boy otherwise, but we can't enjoy his company because we are getting very sick of everything smelling like dog pee. We have had him since June, and he's getting worse instead of better. Anyone have any suggestions on getting him past this? Otherwise we are going yo have to rehome him, and I REALLY hate to do that.

I'm going to assume that he has been to the vet to make sure there is no physical reason for this.
I would start doing something that will help boost his confidence. Some obedience training may help. As he learns more things, and gets rewarded for learning, he will gain confidence.
Agility training helps a lot. I have seen pretty shy dogs really come out of their shell when learning agility. The better they get, the more confidence they get.

Other than that, you can hope he outgrows it. My puppy used to submissive pee, now she only does it when meeting a new dog that is larger than her.

Good luck!

Our cocker spaniel puppy grow to be doing this plenty the first few days we had him. when we were instructed to dismiss it because he grow to be doing it to expose submission it slwoly went away after a pair extra days. bear in mind, your puppy is in new ecosystem and is attempting to regulate. Bo went from being the most social puppy we've considered when we were on the breeder to look at him and his sister to a shy puppy that spent maximum of his time hiding less than the livingroom table or in the back of the recliner. He grow to be puzzled and it took time for him to grow to be mushy faraway from his mom, his sister and the breeder's relations. As for the peeing at the same time as someone is provided in- my female friend and that i call this the chuffed pees because his thingy is wagging as a lot as his tal at the same time as this happens. What we do is when we come domicile we are saying hi to Bo at the same time as he's in his crate and then positioned our stuff down. at the same time as he's sitting or mendacity down in his crate we open it. He receives extra chuffed pees at the same time as he sees Tracy so she opens the door and is going outside so he follows her outside and does it there. i visit puppy him for about a minute earlier he begins so I puppy him and then we bypass outside. solid success. Your mom desires to be on board with you having the canines or eventually the canines may do exactly his peeing on her. We had a lhasa apso at the same time as i grow to be youthful that grow to be terrified of my dad because he may yell and stick her nostril in her injuries at the same time as she grow to be yound. What she discovered grow to be that she did not like my dad and may actually pee on his ft at the same time as he got here domicile and then run into one in all our bedrooms.
