i submitted my fed tax return on Feb. 1st. I found out after submitting my return tax the revenue dept wasn't accepting certain returns until after Feb. 15th (like the education credits) I received a confirmation email saying that it was accepted on the 14th, but it is still saying my return is processing. It has been 23 days. I know several other people who sent in their returns after mine and claimed the same credits I claimed and they have already received their returns. Has anyone else had this problem? Should I contact the IRS to check on this? Thanks

i'm glad i'm not the only one. was afraid I had done something wrong on mine. I'm beginning to think the government just doesn't want to actually "pay" us for furthering our education. They were pushing for us to file using these tax credits then they don't want to give us the money "they" say we are entitled to. BIG THANKS, to the "powers that be"!!

Ok, fellow Frustrated tax filers, I received an email this morning from HR Block. It seems the delay issue is because of the online tax preparation programs. The email said they were working on the issue to resolve the problems dealing with, you guessed it, the education credits. Evidently, the program wasn't as up to date with the new rules as they led us to believe. Personally, i think we should get a refund of the amount we paid to have it prepared for us. (just my opinion). Hopefully, this will be resolved soon. Good luck!

I submitted my federal return on 1/30/13 and received an email a few days later stating it wouldn't be accepted until 2/14/13 because of the education credits. For two weeks WMR said the return was being processed and just a few days ago it changed and I can no longer see the bars and it only displays a message stating "Your tax return is still being processed. A refund date will be provided when available." However, it's now 3/12/13 and the message hasn't changed. I called the IRS on my 21st day and they told me there was nothing wrong with my return and that every tax payers situation is different so while some filed after me and have already received their return it doesn't mean I will receive my return in the same time frame. The representative also told me the 21 days is not a guarantee and that there was no other information she could give me. I'm EXTREMELY frustrated at this point and don't know what's going on but hopefully we will receive deposit dates soon!
I'm also waiting for an update of ANY sort. I filed early (big mistake) and it was supposedly accepted on the 26th of january. I then got the same email everyone else got about the Feb 14th processing delay for educational credits, and was told to wait 21 days. Here it is 3/12 and it's still processing. I have called several times and the IRS rep always says the same thing: "There is some sort of a delay with your refund, but I can't see the exact details. They may be fixing an error with your return. Please wait 6-8 weeks for your refund". They say that they have checked somehow to see if any letters have been sent to me regarding my return and nothing has been sent out.... that they have my information and I just have to wait.
I suppose it is a little easier knowing that I'm not alone in this -- but I sure wish they would give us all an update!
I have the same situation. I filed the end of January with education credits in my return and it was also accepted Feb 14th. It is now March 12th and it still says it is still being processed. I'm not sure if this is only because of the education credits or not. I was also wondering if I should contact the IRS and see if there was a problem. I would have thought that I would have received a letter by now if there was a problem.
I also filed for education credits and got an email saying they werent taking those tax returns until the middle of Feb. then I got a conf. email. I received another email Feb 14th saying that my tax return was accepted, but still no money. I keep checking the IRS website, "wheres my refund" and it just says still processing. Let us know if you contact the IRS, because I would like to know where my money is too!
A lot of us that filed before feb 14 are still waiting (like me). The people that filed after the 15th are getting their refund back sooner because they sent their information and did not go to the error dept. anyone who filed edu credits before 2/14 went to the error department and they are having to manually correct boxes 25-26 and then process us. It's ridiculous, but this is all what I've found out from calling the IRS like 7 times in the past 2 weeks. We should really hear something soon. I am thinking this coming up week. You can call the irs to check on things, though.
