Is my dog in heat or just being dominant?

Question

My 3 yr old female dog keeps humping my leg (she stops after I say no ) and likes to hump only giant stuffed animals but then when she is done she thrashes them all over for hours on end (she would do that all day if she could) she is not fixed but gets 4-6 30 minute walks a day (I live in an apartment and she is a small dog) she doesn't hump small stuffed animals just big ones and what are the signs of a dog in heat.

First off dogs do not have periods. They do how ever have heat cycles.  About once every six months.
This will last about 21 days and they will bleed or have discharge during that time. Also they will have swollen vulva's. Their nipples will also enlarge. 
Get her spayed. It will lower her risk of mammary cancer as she ages. Also it will help rid her of some of the anxiety driven hormonal behavior. 
Humping can be dominance and not hormonal. The humping your leg that is dominance.

haha Well, dogs get hormonal too. And they have periods. Have you noticed any blood on the floor when your dog sits down? And their, um,private area will be kinda swollen. SO yeah, if she has any of those signs she's probably in heat. This is NOT a dominance thing. It's just the urge to "to get freaky with it". ;)
