Lately I've been receiving "you've got the best answer" responses that are 3 or 4 years old. Does this happen to anyone else? Where have these questions been hiding, in a parallel universe?

Yes, it happens to many of us. Questions stay in voting until they are resolved. Since many questions are "tied", that can happen years later. Go to the "In Voting" tab at the top of the list of questions in any category. Sort by "Oldest" - and you'll see what I mean.
There is even a special group of Yahoo Answers users called "TieBusters" that do all their voting on extremely old questions. You've probably reaped your recent benefits from one of their members. A link to the group is on my "About Me" section if you click my avatar.

Some people go to unsolved questions and vote,I too have been receiving best answers from years ago.
