Calculate the osmotic pressure of a solution?
containing 19.85 mg of hemoglobin in 16.5 mL of solution at 15 degrees Celsius. The molar mass of the hemoglobin is 6.5 * 10^4 g/mol

Favorite Answer

π = iMRT
π is osmotic pressure
i is van't Hoff number (1 for Hemoglobin)
M is molarity = moles/liter
R is gas constant (0.082)
T is temperature in K = 273 + 15 = 288 deg
First calculate M by calculating moles in 19.85 mg of Hb
Then divide that by 0.0165 L
Then plug in value for M into the above equation and solve for π
