Does gandalf the white wear a hat in the books?
I know he wears a hat as Gandalf the Grey, and in the movies he loses the hat so he looks like Saruman, but does he keep the hat in the books when he comes back as Gandalf the White?

NOt that I am aware of. He actually looks more respectable without the silly hat especially as Gandalf the White. I also noticed he makes smarter decisions as Gandalf The White as when he was Gandalf the Grey he made so many mistakes such as turning his back to the Balrog which you NEVER EVER turn you're back to you're enemy until you know for sure he is dead.
Also he couldn't even remember which passage way was right or the mistake of giving Pippin his stuff instead of giving it to Frodo or Sam who was the slave of the group anyways.
