A current in a long, straight wire produces a magnetic field. These magnetic field lines form circles that go around the wire.
WHY do the magnetic field lines form circles that go around the wire?

Only with Alternating Current (AC). Direct Current (DC) will not form the magnetic field in a straight wire.

The reason for the circular magnetic field is due to the positive and negative field produced by the AC.
