What is GPU and CPU meter?

So I downloaded these desktop gadgets called gpu and cpu meter can someone give me an explanation of what core 1-4 is as well as what the music note does in the top left hand corner of both of them. Also is there a way to increase the fan speed it says 1061 rpm usage:37% does that mean theres more to use? Also whats the shader clock?

GPU = Graphics Processing Unit (coordinates a display on your screen)
CPU = Central Processing Unit (crunches input tasks)

Those two desktop gadgets are designed to monitor them.

Where it is talking about the different cores, that's in reference to the number of cores your CPU has. I'm guessing it monitors each core individually? Would make sense. In essence, a 'core' is like a channel in which all processes have to go. The more cores a processor has, the greater number of tasks it can process at the same time.

Most people really don't need control of fan speed, I don't bother with fan controllers. It will spin at whatever is necessary to keep your components cool.

Your GPU has a shader - this is responsible for displaying correct levels of light/dark within an image. You can increase the performance of this by 'overclocking' it, i.e. increasing power consumption in order to see an increase in framerate. Overclocking can also be done on your CPU.

I hope this helps!
