What are the positive and negative things the environment does to the watershed?

Just need a few key things for a sixth-grade project.

A watershed is an area of land containing many small rivers and streams that drain into a larger body of water, so 'environment' covers quite a few things in terms of what can affect watersheds. On the positive side, a healthy watershed in areas where vegetation grows may filter the water that flows into it through the soil, so the water that ends up in larger bodies like rivers has fewer chemicals or pollutants. On the negative side, areas with less vegetation may not filter out as many pollutants, and the soil that runs into the water affects the watershed as well.
