Avast ! is now asking for money. It will not update the free version. Anyone else having this problem?

I started using this since a friend of a friend recommended it 2 years ago and it worked fine.

What is going on?

The only time this happens if you accidently hit the trial button and then the product goes into a 30 day trial mode - or if you do a system restore it will revert to the paid version and not the free version...but anyway...a simple fix....go into settings....then on start up disable the protection module and then turn off avast and download their removal tool and uninstall it.....then reinstall the free version again.......also make sure to register the free version in the maintenance tab otherwise in 60 days you'll have the same problem.........

I would recommend Eset Smart Security or their anti virus prog Nod 32. I had Norton and its costly and not all that great so changed 2 years ago.
