Is The Patriot Act legal?

That document infringes on the freedoms of US citizens to an extraordinary extent.
It can be used to deny due process, habeas corpus, public trial by jury, access to legal representation, visitation by family and friends. The cops (in whatever incarnation) can transport you to a different state, or even a different country, secretly.
What kind of patriot supports that crap?

By definition, all laws passed by Congress are PRESUMED to be "lawful" until proven otherwise in a court of law.

By the way, it's not "The Patriot Act", it's the "USA PATRIOT Act", which is the short title of "Uniting (and) Strengthening America (by) Providing Appropriate Tools Required (to) Intercept (and) Obstruct Terrorism Act of 2001", fast-tracked (some say "railroaded") through Congress by the Bush Administration less than a month after terrorist attacks of September 11th.

Portions of the PATRIOT Act have, in fact, been ruled unconstitutional.
