So, my Fiance went for a pedicure and manicure with her Sister and Daughter. They were all happy when they returned. The next day, my Fiance's polish started to flake off. She went back and showed the lady who replied "It's the oils in your nails! Everybody is different! Nail polish is only supposed to last a day or two anyway!". My Fiance told her that it always lasts her at least a week and they argued about it for the next ten minutes. Finally, the lady said "Alright, pick another color and we will fix it just this one time!" Then my fiance told her "No! Your not touching my nails and you just lost three customers!". Then she left while noticing there were no other customers in the place and everyone was just sitting around. (Big surprise) When she looked back she could see the lady flinging her arms around and running her mouth to the other employees. So, the question is, How long or durable should nail polish be if applied "Professionally"?

Depends on the type of polish used and what she did with her feet afterwards.
I got a pedicure once and I know for a fact the salon was using like, THE best nail polish. Everything was well and good, had my feet under the dryer so everything was solid before I left.....and then I promptly managed to trip in the parking lot, and screwed up all the polish on my entire right foot.

From a salon it should definitely last at least a week. Who would pay that kind of money for their nails to look nice for "a day or two"??? No one. Even when I do my own nails, it lasts about a week before my nails start to grow, chipping isn't even the problem. That being said, if she was gardening or doing a ton of dishes, then that could be why it was flaking off.
At least a week, even if you were washing for one day , it should not flake off the next day, what nail polish did they use, the quality is important too, OPI is good and Essie not bad either, anything else might not last as long.
