overheating problem...?

so my computer has a problem, whenever i play GTA 4, my computer shuts down due to overheating and i get pissed off because i finished 5 missions or more and i forget to save and the missions are a pain in the *** to finish. i have a HP Pavilion G7 and i wanna know how to prevent overheating!

i put in on top of a box where the vents actually are free...

Clean out your laptop every month and dust it. 
Use a cooling pad.
Make sure dont set it on soft surfaces.
Make sure nothing beside the laptop.
In extreme cases ive had to put a fan beside the laptop but a cooling pad normally will fix the problem.

Don't play on area that covers the cooling vents also try to take breaks just to let the computer cool down a bit
