Why is my Transmission slamming into fail safe mode?

I own a 2006 Nissan Altima SE-R with 102k miles, this has happened twice where my transmission has slammed into fail safe mode (automatic tranny) but it only happens when I floor it.

After shutting the car off for a few hours it seems like the computer resets and the car drives fine, like it never happened. I don't floor it anymore because of this.

Does anybody know what causes my transmission to slam like that into fail safe mode?

If I drive "normally" it's fine. But I wanna know what's wrong so hopefully it won't happen again

that is not fail safe. that term is related to a computer that has lost the ability to do something or lacks the input from a system. fail safe is a limp in mode. second gear and ignore the inputs. the o2 sensors are not watched and many other things are out of the equation also. the shift points in the trans are by the charts alone.
