Christians, how come the Bible is about 6,000 years old?

And human kind is somewhere between 40,000 and a million years old?

The Holy Bible is not 6000 years old. The Jewish stories in it go back purportedly about 4700 years. However the scriptures themselves only date back at the earliest 500 BC and the New Testament in its final form more or less to about 410 AD.

In either event the Earth itself is way older by billions of years.

you're mixing up evolutionism (atheism) with Creationism (the Bible). According to the Bible, the world is at MAXIMUM 8,000-10,000 years old. This was deduced by the genealogical records listed in the Bible. A lot of those genealogical records also have an age of when they died rather it is mentioned immediately or somewhere else in that chapter.
