Why do gas prices suddenly jump way up in Missouri?
In MO, gas prices jump up 15-20 cents/gallon overnight. Then, they will either stay the same or fall (usually 2-3 cents/gallon/day) over the next week or two, then they suddenly jump up 15-20 cents/gallon again and the cycle repeats. I find this very strange. In VA, where Im from, prices could rise or fall by a few cents on any given day. Gas prices rarely change by 15-20 cents in just one day, usually its 5, maybe 10 cents in one day and no more). Whats up with that?
This has nothing to do with the holiday. It is something I have consistently noticed at all times of year over the past several years. Also, this does NOT happen in Virginia; in VA, gas prices are equally likely to rise or fall on any given day. In contrast, in MO, they WILL fall 6 of 7, or 9 of 10 days but they WILL make up for it with a BIG increase the one day they do actually go up.
