I am looking for manuscript editing software that will allow me to make changes, corrections, recommendations for my colleagues' papers, etc.
Everytime I search for "manuscript editing software" - all I get is a list of websites who offer manuscript editing.
What I am looking for is something that I can use to leave the original Word doc alone and just imput my corrections on top of the original.
Does anyone know of a good program?
Better yet, are there any good apps that I could use for an Android tablet or iPad?
thanks! :)

MS Word has a "track changes" feature, where it will record any edits that you make. You can switch between viewing the original and edited versions of the document, with or without notes in the margin that point to each change and tell you what the change was. At any point, you can decide the current set of changes are complete or final in whatever sense is meaningful, and create a new revision from them. It keeps as many revisions as you want, and you can (I think) compare any two revisions.
uncertain what style of modifying you mean; the previous answerer appeared to think of you meant some thing that facilitates you to do be conscious processing besides as protecting song of learn notes and in spite of. For that i take advantage of Scrivener -- sure it expenditures, besides the fact that it is below 40 dollars. i'm utilising a unfastened Beta version of Scrivener for living house windows -- it became a Mac challenge first -- on the 2d and that i like it a lot; I actually plan to purchase the utility as quickly because it is obtainable. yet once you mean you're finding for some thing that corrects your grammar and makes particular you utilize the suitable verb tenses and such, for which you nonetheless choose a man or woman. so some distance as i understand, no one has utilized AI to writing and produced utility which will carry out the function of a duplicate-editor. yet i might say that, because of the fact i'm a settlement reproduction-editor. yet actually, i do no longer think of there is any utility obtainable that can edit your prose for you. (And as i'm a author and reproduction-editor, that's *relatively annoying* that once I variety solutions right here, Yahoo places up little flags asserting "you're utilising a good deal of punctuation"--yeah, suitable, fantastic. i'm authorized to apply punctuation, so there!)
