How come many filipino doctors say it is NOT bad or unhealthy for a woman to bath during her period?

I 'd say this old belief had some basis. Since in the past, or even up to this period, not all fresh water are disinfected. It is a medical advice that women should not forged flood water when it reached the genital area. But they can't find the wisdom in this old belief. Not all fresh water is disinfected especially in rural areas or I am just paranoid?lol

@INDEPENDA....I'm not bothered by your comments. If you have military background, even basic, you'll be aware of the different quality of fresh water. Some fresh water are relatively safe to drink and bath for the natives for they have adapted to it but would be fatal for a newcomer.

The real issue is the quality of the water.

There is nothing wrong with bathing in clean water. If the water comes out of a facet and is suitable for drinking, then it is safe to bath in it even during the period.

But, you are right about not wanting to wade into a river or flood waters. But most people don't bath in water like that.

Because it isn't, and it never was. And it's not just filipino doctors that say it, it's common sense.

It's not like your period is an open wound or anything, it's just your body getting rid of tissue it no longer needs.

It's good to take a shower or bath when you're having your period so that you feel fresh and clean.

Having your period does not forge some open conduit to the reproductive organs. A woman who is menstruating is at no more risk of infection (from water or any other source) than any other female.

I'm sorry, the question is utterly and totally ridiculous and the replies worse.
Cant bath when menstruating??? and replies here either think that or talk about the quality of the water?
Good grief, are ALL Filipinos this dumb?

Quite simply because it isn't bad. You sound just a little on the paranoid side... that's okay though, sometimes it is better to be safe than sorry.
