My horses are free feed for alfalfa and Bermuda grass. One is 20 and the other 26 and they are doing great. Two times a day they get 1/2 scoop Equip-Pride and 2 quarts of Triple Crown Senior. The third feeding they get Triple Crown, same amount. Into each serving of mash they get a very small amount of Diatonateous Earth so that flies cannot successfully lay eggs in their manure.
I add the same amount of WATER to the mash all three times as the amount of Triple Crown and let it stand for 10-15 minutes so that it has absorbed the water.
This prevents water from being drawn from the lining of their stomach, hence preventing colic! I never ever give dry pellets or mash or anything which has been dehydrated without adding the water back into the food. Have never had a case of colic.
I used to feed LMF Senior which the horses did well on too, but cannot get it here in my area now. Same procedure ~
