Rock & Pop- What would you say or what artist would you rec to someone if they told you they detested music?

I found a blog post where someone was hating music, and I can't help but wonder why. It makes me want to help find something to like, since music is proven to release pleasure chemicals in the brain upon hearing it. So, how can it be possible to not like it, to ignore a scientific reaction? Hm... here's the article-

If it were me I'd try to talk to the other person more, get an idea of what they might like and leave a few kindly and probably soft suggestions, but that's just me. What about you guys? Thoughts on this article and why it's such an anomaly?

BQ- how was your weekend?

BQ2- latest music discovery?

Thanks everyone!

I'd probably think that they were one of those people who just didn't find any joy in music, or one of those people who prefer silence because it helps them think. Maybe they have other hobbies, maybe they hate music because they feel like it's being crammed down their throat (and that's kinda what happens to me -- I hate anything I'm forced to watch, do or listen to against my will).

I wouldn't try to rec them anything. That would require effort spent on my part and unless I had a lot of buy-in, it wouldn't be worth the effort.

BQ: Awesome. On Saturday I went to a British car show and saw all sorts of cool cars (and found out that Sunbeam cars used Ford engines). Then I went to a muscle car show that afternoon and saw tons of American cars, including the most gorgeous 1953 Buick Special. <3

BQ2: Serart, a collaboration between Serj Tankian and Arto Tunçboyacıyan. It's beautiful and haunting music at the same time. It's supposed to be like Turkish/Armenian folk music.

Probably some classic rock like The Beatles, Queen, Elvis Presley, CCR, and Simon & Garfunkle.

BQ: Meh. Had a sinus headache since saturday and it hasn't gone away yet.

BQ2: A band called Neon Horse. They're kinda secretive so there isn't much info about them other than rumored members. Makes it really hard to figure out if they're still together and I don't think they actually tour :/.

I do not believe it's weird at all. Maybe it's strange in the western side of the world to not listen to music, but here in the eastern parts, it's not too uncommon for people to completely despise music in all shapes and forms.

It's entertainment, and just like any other form of entertainment, there are people who don't enjoy it. Personally, I would stop listening to music myself if I wasn't addicted, as I feel it kills way too much of my time.

With that article though, it seems like the person has more of a distaste for popular music rather than anything else.

BA: What weekend? Sorry, I lose track of days during summer vacation.

BA2: I'm not really sure. Possibly this band:

Well, I would give them an array of choices to choose from.....ranging from styles and genres like:

In The Kitchen by Umphrey's McGee
Time Can Wait by David Yellen Band
Stomping Grounds by Bela Fleck and the Flecktones

BQ2: Inara George, song "Can't Say No".....Catupecu Machu, song "Muestrame Los Dientes"

I find that article to be just a rant on today's pop. I would recommend artists like Mozart, Bach, Beethoven and other classical musicians along with today's ambient musicians like Clams Casino, Flying Lotus, maybe even James Blake.

BQ: Good. I played in a baseball tournament and my team came in 2nd place.
BQ2: Stone Temple Pilots
