As a vet, would I have time for a ranch?

I want to be a veterinarian, specializing in farm animals. However, I would also like to have a little ranch, with mostly horses, and maybe a couple cows, some chickens, a couple pigs, etc.. Just a small ranch, not a huge farm operation. Would this be realistic? I plan on majoring in farm animal science before vet school to get some farm management and animal experience (as I live in suburbs, not on a farm). I talked this over with my doctor (as she asked what I want to do), and she said it was realistic. My parents say otherwise, but I think that's cause they don't want me to be a vet period, they want me to be a trauma surgeon. But honestly, I don't care if they don't support it, cause it's truly my dream. What do you think, is it realistic?

Yes its realistic why not? Its great you love animals and you will be able to help them. You will be happy doing something you love. Everybody dreams of working in a field they are passionate about.

I feel it is realistic, especially if you wait until you're an established vet. That way you have the income and probably more time. Also, you can tell your parent's that veterinary school is harder to get into then med school, I think there are only 7 vet schools in the whole country.

My crystal ball is broken. I can't see your future without it.
