Are there any good winter vegetables to grow in Southern California?

Provided you are getting 4-5 hours a day of good light/sunlight, there are all kinds of cool weather vegetables that do great.
Swiss chard, spinach, mesclun mixes, kale, cabbages, leeks, winter turnips, carrots, mustard greens, many asian greens, peas.....

Your area averages about 4-5 hours of full sun during the wintertime, which means you can plant vegetables like herbs, lettuce & spinach which only need 4 hours a day and possibly some that need at least 6 hours a day, if your particular garden spot/city gets more than the So. California average. There's a complete list here: http://blog.gardenharvestsupply.com/2013/03/11/how-much-sunlight-do-growing-vegetables-need/

I would try leaf lettuce, swiss chard, peas, and radishes.
