I want to be a vegan but eggs are such a staple in my diet?
Hi, so I've been vegetarian for a while. It wasn't that difficult as I never really liked meat anyway. Recently I've been interested in taking the next step and becoming a vegan. I have most of it covered (don't use products tested on animals/made from animals, etc) And I don't consume milk, cheese, yogurt, or any other dairy products ... Except for eggs. Eggs are a real staple in my diet; I have one or two with my oatmeal in the morning and then and other one or two at lunch with something else. They keep me full much longer than anything else and I can't imagine not eating them. Can I have some help please? What can I replace eggs with that has around the same protein and nutrient content? I really want to be a full vegan . Please help me :(
I'm also a 16 year old girl, if that affects anything. (It probably doesn't)

@Upside down ... I'd like to add that I don't eat a lot of processed foods. Just because I'm trying to be vegan doesn't mean I'm sitting here binging on Oreos all day. Most of my diet is made up of fruits and vegetables, and a bit of oats. The only problem with my diet are the eggs. Please don't make assumptions. Thanks.

Hey! I think for now, just convert to part-vegan, and continue eating eggs (good quality free range). When you feel it's right, start slowly transitioning to replacing maybe one breakfast a week with tofu. Take it slow! Just keep transitioning slowly and you'll be fine. When I turned vegan, whenever there was something I was reaaaaally tempted by, instead of indulging my craving I would watch one of PETA's (I don't like them jtc) slaughterhouse videos - it would kind of make me associate and connect the pain to the product, and soon it put me right off whatever it was. Don't be disheartened if it takes longer than expected, and don't give up on veganism althogether because of one food item because any reduction in torture is better than none, you know? You can do it!! x
(Roasted aubergine is also a pretty good substitute)
You could just be an ovo vegetarian and leave it at that? Its probably healthier than being full vegan anyway and surely its better to eat a small amount of animal products and stay healthy than go to extremes and fail through bad health a few years down the line? See if you can find out where the most ethical eggs are, its ok to compromise. I did see an advert for a place that doesn't kill the boy chickens therefore meaning that as long as they are all kept in a happy humane way that there seriously can't be any problem in eating them?
Try to find someone in your neighborhood who raises chickens and treats them humanely. Or raise your own chickens. Some people don't believe in ethical eggs, I do, even if I am a vegan. It was said before that tofu makes a good egg substitute. I can't vouch for that personally, because I've never been keen on soy, but I did read from a vegan blogger who has a recipe for scrambled tofu.
Why are you trying to go vegan? If you're trying to save the chickens, then maybe buying free range eggs will allow you to eat the eggs, but relieve the guilt.
Also, keep in mind that you are the only person that needs to live with your diet. So if you can't give up the eggs, then that's just how it is and you are perfectly free to accept that if you choose.
Try tofu; that's what a lot of people use as a substitute for eggs, as they can have the same consistency. I make "tofu scramble" in the morning and with the right seasonings, even my family (who aren't vegan or vegetarian) rave about it and say it makes them think they're eating eggs, haha.
Edit: @ I see Dead Squirrels- Fascism definition: often capitalized : a political philosophy, movement, or regime (as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition
Being that YOUR eating habits oppresses not only animals, but human beings (feeding food to your steak rather than to starving people in your country and abroad) you are- by definition- a food fascist. You eat according to personal, selfish pleasure; vegans save 7 human lives with the resources they free up (UNITED NATIONS). You literally force people into poverty and starvation with your food choices :)
