What can i get when i will change Kia Soul rims from 16 to 18?
Hello , All when i want to change rims for my car 16 to 18 or tires from 205/55/16 to 235/45/18 there will be an increase in outside diameter by about 36mm . Does this increase in the total diameter of the tire will affect on the car especially the speed meter?
The increase in size from a 205/55-16 sized tire to a 235/45-18 will cause your speed to be 68.79 mph when your speedo reads 65 mph. So yeah, be careful, you'll be going 3 to 4 mph more that what your speedometer is actually reading.
One other very serious note, if you are switching to a 18 inch tire and rim combo on your Soul the proper sized tire filament is 215/40-18. Your suggested width of 235 is entirely too wide. The extra width will decrease your handling and cornering responsiveness, along with your fuel economy. And if you go with the recommended size of 215/40-18 the accuracy of your speedo will stay true.
A little bit. I noticed when I went from 15" to 17" it had better handling and rode smoother, but I lost a little off my 0-60 time and my speedometer is off a little bit. Use a GPS and see how fast you are going with the old tires and the new tires and see what is says on the speedometer. Then, you know how fast it is going.
Changing the tire size will have an effect on your speedometer. The link that we are giving you will give you an idea of how dramatic the change will be. Remember to stay safe and follow all traffic rules!
