Can I Re-Install Windows 7 that has been upgraded from Vista with a Full Windows 7 Disk?

A Friend of mine has an infected computer that has been upgraded from Vista to Windows 7, It needs formatted and redone. It has been Validated as Genuine.
Unfortunately whoever did the upgrade deleted the recovery partition. (the Vista key is on the side of
the PC.
I have a friend who has the same version of Windows 7 home premium 64 bit, but the full cd, not the upgrade disk
Can I use it to Re-install as I don't have access to the original upgrade disk
do I have to Re-installl Vista first from a Vista Disk.
Thanks in advance

Thanks, I did run Belarc Advisor and do have Windows 7 key, I did clean the PC with various things including Malwarebytes, and various antivirus repair disk, but rootkits came back, and parts of the installation are corrupted, which means format and reinstall. I just wasn't sure whether or not a full Windows 7 disk would allow me to Re-install Windows 7 as I don't have the original windows 7 upgrade disk.

Hi There,

If it is possible to download and run Belarc Advisor it will give you the product key for the Windows 7 installation. Also the key for any other programs that might be needed later.

Once you have the product key for Win 7 it should work for authenticating a full install using the other disk.

If that does not work then you would have to reinstall Vista then do the upgrade again.

Before doing the reinstall you might try removing the infection with the antivirus program and Malwarebytes.

Hope that helps,
Al
