What kind of blanket to get?

I need a blanket for My mare but only when it gets really cold (under 30 at night) cause she shivers. Should I get a light or a medium? Turn out or stable? Last winter I only blanketed her in her stall at night, off during the day except for really cold days. I moved barns cause of moving myself and borrowed a blanket last year. I was gonna borrow one again but they don't have any that fit her.

If it was me I'd go for a medium weight rug, particularly if she's cold enough to shiver at night.

A lightweight rug really doesn't hold all that much insulation, the only time I use my light weight rug is when it's relatively warm but consistently raining. A medium weight should hold some decent insulation, but not enough to make her too warm.
As for a turnout or stable rug, depends on whether she's in or out at night. If she's out then she needs the waterproofed turnout rug, if she's in then a stable rug will do.

If you only want to get one, and your horse is living in and out then get a turnout rug - it'll be fine in the stable aswell.

Since it gets really cold, I would suggest a heavy blanket. I have and love the Classic Equine Frost Fighter Blanket. I'll put in a link below. It is awesome. I live in the south, but it still gets pretty cold at night. Sometimes I leave them on all day. But this is a really great product and will last a long time if taken care of.

You don't say where you live and the weather. If it is very cold ,you need buy a heavyweight rug for her. And if it always rains, you would better buy a waterproof rug to keep her warm and dry.
Have a good riding!
