Glossophobia or speech anxiety is the fear of public speaking or of speaking in general. The word glossophobia comes from the Greek glōssa, meaning tongue, and phobos, fear or dread. Many people only have this fear, while others may also have social phobia or social anxiety disorder.

I actually love speaking in public. My voice is naturally loud, so it doesn't take long for me to have a group of people listening to me without my even noticing. Don't worry about messing up or saying something stupid. Just remember, the easiest speech comes from the heart. You shouldn't try to read word for word from a piece of paper. Just jot down ideas on notecards, and discuss your thoughts like you were talking to a few friends. (I actually make it a point to assume I already look stuipid no matter what I say, so I don't worry about going any lower. Start at rock bottom, you can only go up!) Another thing that may help you out is, if you can't tell by most of the other people here, this is a pretty common fear. Everyone in the room listening is probably just glad it isn't their turn to speak yet! Everyone is just as afraid of looking foolish as you are, so don't worry. If you get the choice, you may even try to go first so you don't have to worry about when you will be called on. Plus you get to set the standard for everyone else to live up to!

yeah, i hate public speaking, when i get in front of allot of people to perform a presentation i turn bright red i usually dont freak out or anything because i keep it all inside me but everyone knows im nervous because i turn bright red but i think your just making it worse on yourself when you label the stuff your affraid of though i think its harder to get over, what i mean is that you shouldnt accept everything your affraid of insted you try should to get over those feelings but i think it would be much easier to get over those feelings if you had someone who loved you by your side to encourage you every step of the way
