Moving into apartments do you pay first months rent?

I know you pay the deposit/admin fees and what not but my question is.. Do you pay the first months rent upon moving in? or do you live there the whole month and then pay rent. How does it work? and fyi I live in Texas.

You would pay your Deposit and Fees when you sign the Lease.
You will pay your rent when you move in.
