Why mess with a good thing?

This question can be asked about everything from our favorite cars to movie re-makes, but I am wondering why Yahoo Answers went from a format that was familiar and easy to understand to one I am having difficulty comprehending. And--in case anyone is wondering--I'm reasonably intelligent and usually have no trouble understanding how things are organized.

What gives? Anybody besides me confused?

These are the various reasons for why Yahoo is forcing the new Answers onto users:

1. Accommodating Answers for IPhones to encourage more mobile usage.

2. Deciding against relying on distribution for an app that could run on IPhones.

3. Cleaning up what they consider to be not straight-forward enough in look.

4. Creating more room on each page for advertisers.

5. Making it harder to navigate so that users need to stay on the website longer.

6. Organizing existing accounts and questions that Yahoo deems should not be a part of Yahoo Answers anymore. This means questions and accounts were deleted as Yahoo saw fit. This effectively makes many users have to start over again and use the new system -- making it look like Yahoo is not losing members, but in reality they are.

I don't like it either. Go to the bottom of the page and choose another country like UK or Canada, they still have the old format...

Beats me why they are doing it.
I haven't been switched yet. I can hardly wait after seeing how they made a mess out of Yahoo Groups.

Just switch to the Philippines, it is the old format.

Click on 'international'...to the right, then 'Canada' and you're home, to the old way. Still don't stop deletions, but it's home to what we know.
