Wargaming or conflict simulation...?

I have downloaded Global Conflict Blue 2 and played around with it a little bit, although I'm pretty terrible. Are there any other ways (free programs or other mediums) to wargame modern conflicts or possible situations? Possibly some sort of strategic simulation of an Indo-Pak conflict over Kashmir or something.
I'm really looking to learn how to command troops in a realistic way, like actual war college level planning and maneuvers as well as geostrategic or political thinking. As much info as you can please, thanks a lot.

This is the military section, not the video game section.
