Can Someone Explain What Is Join SPOUSE For Air Force?

So my boyfriend and I are thinking about joining the Air Force. He wants to go in active duty and for now I want to do reserves so I can get through college. Once I am finished with college I also plan on going in active duty. If we get married after basic... how exactly will everything work? Will we be stationed together since we will be married? I don't know all the military terms so... details please. My friends parents are both active duty Air Force and they seem to fight a lot because they are away from each other a good bit of the time... Will that happen to me? Also if I end up not joining and we still get married.. What will happen then? Can I go with him? Any info anyone has will be great. Thanks!

If he is active duty and you are reserves, that will cause lots of problems. As a Reservist, you will have to attend your training one weekend a month and two weeks a year. You will need to live in the boundaries of your existing reserve unit. You can transfer units, but it's very difficult and time consuming.

With him being active duty, they can send him anywhere in the world. My brother and his family lived in Japan for 3 years. They've lived in Virginia, Mississippi, and Ohio as well.

Being his spouse, you can move with him when he is active duty. However, your commitments as a Reservist will restrict that. If he gets stationed overseas, you will not be able to go because of your own commitments.

If you are both active duty, there is no guarantee you will be stationed together. The military tries, but their needs take precedent. If there aren't opening for your MOSs together, you will be separated.

You both have to be officers or enlisted. Not one of each. JOINT spouse means you get assigned to the same base sometimes.
