Ever notice how many people promise TEN POINTS for best answer, then disappear from view!?

You may still win Best Answer, but it’s left up to the Voters. Winning by that 1 Vote is never as satisfying as when it’s granted by the Asker. For me, I find -- many times -- that a so-often-empty promise is more of a put-off than an encouragement to answer. Anyone else have the same feeing, after having taken time to answer a question with such a promise attached ? I will make an attempt to award the 10 points myself to a good response.

I always assume any such "promise" is meaningless.

What gets me is the people who vote down a full and correct answer.
