No power to HP pavilion DV7-1245dx.?

A couple of years ago my dog chewed the power cord for my laptop, so being an idiot I bought a cheap version. Well the cord would get so hot that the lil box half way down on the cord melted. Not long after that it quit charging my laptop. This time we got the actual HP replacement charger. It was able to get my laptop half way charged and then nothing. I thought that maybe it was the ac adapter in the laptop so I bought that replacement part and replaced it and still nothing. Does anyone have any ideas as to what this could be? I am hoping to be able to fix this myself instead of a repair shop or getting a new laptop. I know that may be the only option but I would like to see if I an do it myself first.

Hello ?,

I understand your frustration, it is always recommended to use the original charging adapter that came with your HP Pavilion dv7-1245dx Notebook. Take a look at the link below for using and testing the AC Power Adapter,

You can also check out the HP Support Assistant for some great diagnostic tools the link is provided below,

Check the laptop port that the power cord plugs into see if it's loose , i really think the dc jack where the power cord plugs into is melted of defective
