When I was pregnant with my son I suffered from a lot of yeast infections. I can't use panty liners or pads(even unscented). All I can use is tampons unscented. Well its been almost a year since but its still the same way. Anyways its been a good 3 months since I had a yeast infection(still get them a lot). I just got my wisdom teeth out 6 days ago( they put me on an antibiotic (amoxicillian) to avoid an infection) and I yesterday just had symptoms. My vagina(outer) was dry.. Puffy and slightly itchy. Well earlier today I decided to use canestan cream. I stopped using it before cause It caused me to have a small rash when I was pregnant. Well now.. I have slight bleeding from my clitorus and lips cause I have a rash. My vagina is very sore and itchy. I can feel my heartbeat down there too. My discharge doesn't smell but my clitorus hurt a lot!! Very painful. Anyone els experience this? I'm clean of course. No stds sti's etc.

I stated I am clean because I know I am. I was checked prior to pregnancy and at 2 months pregnant. Also I was checked right after I had my son. I have had the same partner for 5 years. (Also have gotten yearly checkups for over 10 years. We are faithful and we are both clean. Just curious if anyone els suffers from a lot of yeast infections. Thanks for the advice though

Ouch! It sounds like you've developed a yeast infection as a result of the antibiotics you were using, and then Canestan has resulted in an allergic reaction. Get yourself to your doctor as soon as possible, as you mention the brand name Canestan I'm guessing that you're in the UK so hopefully getting to the doctor or a clinic shouldn't be a problem - if you struggle to get an appointment tell the receptionist that it is urgent. It's going to be a bit tricky considering it sounds like you're especially sensitive so it will be hard to find a treatment that isn't going to give you more of a problem, but I'd possibly be looking at a steroid based cream to try to deal with this reaction.
In future go for prevention - especially on antibiotics - start taking a daily pro-biotic and cranberry pills to help prevent yeast infections, I'd also recommend getting plain pro-biotic yoghurt to insert vaginally to re-introduce healthy flora (it may help ease irritation too!); freeze yoghurt in ice-cube trays to insert one vaginally every night for a week, wear old panties to avoid mess and shower the next morning (remember only ever use water to clean your vulva). Follow vaginal health rules such as wiping front to back, prevent anything chemical coming close to your vulva, and keeping your vulva clean and dry e.g. no tight-fitting synthetic clothing and wear cotton underwear.
For the record people with STI's/STD's are not dirty - so please don't use the term 'clean'. You're clear of STI's/STD's...with the exception of a yeast infection, which can be sexually transmitted so if you are prone to yeast infections do keep that in mind as even if your partner has no symptoms you can pass a yeast infection back and forth between each other.
On the subject of menstrual products...
I'm guessing that it's commercial pads you have problems with such as Always or Kotex because they are heavily chemically treated, so instead try hypo-allergenic cotton pads like Cottons, Emerita, Natracare, Seventh Generation, etc. or cloth pads like Lunapads, Gladrags, Party In My Pants Pads, Sckoon, etc. Cloth pads are a better option if you're prone to yeast infections because as well as hypo-allergenic they are breathable so prevent the warm moist environment in which yeast thrive.
It's unsafe to use tampons throughout your periods, you need to alternate with pads to reduce risk of TSS and vaginal infections. If you're using commercial tampons like Tampax, Playtex, or Kotex risk of yeast infections are higher, but also as these use similar chemicals to commercial pads I'd expect you to experience discomfort or increased cramping with these. I recommend if using tampons opt for cotton brands like those mentioned above, or sponge tampons.
Have you considered menstrual cups or softcups? Cups are internal like tampons but safer and more hygienic so no risk of TSS or vaginal infections, they can reduce flow and cramps, also they are made from TPE or medical grade silicone so no risk of allergic reaction or infections. As cups are safer they can be worn for 12 hours with any flow, overnight, and no need to alternate with pads, plus menstrual cups don't leak like tampons.
