What taxes would I pay if I bought a car from out of state?

I live in washington state, king county. I know that if I buy a car in a different county WITHIN washington state that it will be a little cheaper considering that king county has the highest taxes in washington state. But what if a buy a car from somewhere in Idaho? Again, I understand that I will still have to pay washington state sales tax on the car. However, since Im purchasing the vehicle from Idaho, would the county taxes/fees from whatever county in Idaho I buy the vehicle from apply? Or would king county taxes/fees apply? My father (also lives in King County) bought a vehicle from a different county within the state and saved some money. Why would king county taxes not apply since I live in the county?

Sales and use tax for the county of your residence that will be registering the car in are else the DMV will make up the difference if the amount should be a larger amount of sales use tax than what you did pay when you go to register the car so that you can legally drive it on the HWY in your home state at that time in your life.
Hope that you find the above enclosed information useful. 11/02/2013

When you buy a car out of state, you must pay your home state the amount of tax that you would have paid if you bought it there, minus the tax that you already paid in another state. (Technically, this applies to all out of state purchases, but it is only well-enforced with vehicles.)

you will pay the sales tax when you register your vehicle in the county your residence is located

u pay the TAXES based on where
u live and register the car
NOT where buy it.
