"A Preservation of the Sign Language"?

So does anyone have an idea of why this film of George Veditz in 1913 talking about the importance of sign language, would have a 4.7/10 rating on IMDB. This is really annoying me considering that this film was a very important arifact and shows a part of the history of ASL. Why would people rate it down?

Probably because they do not like it. I have never seen it or even heard of it before, so I can only guess at why.

Maybe it is condescending to the Deaf community. Maybe it is just boring.

In any case, do not worry about what is basically a popularity contest.
