What sports do you play?

I'm looking for a good sport to join to help with my athletic side of life. Any suggestions?

Favorite Answer

Swimming
Pros: Extremely good workout for muscle, cardio, and weight loss. Doesn't damage your body. Can be done according to your schedule.
Cons: Extremely dependent on access to a pool, space in that pool, etc. Can be bad for skin, eyes, and hair.

Running:
Pros: Extremely convenient (can run relatively anywhere, anytime). Extremely good for cardio and weight loss. Can be done according to your schedule. Safe/Easy to understand and performed.
Cons: Horrible for your knees and ankles, you WILL damage your body.

Group sports such as basketball, football, hockey, etc.:
Pros: Fun, you can go longer without noticing. Mixed workout of cardio and muscle groups. Meet people.
Cons: Dependent on the group's schedule. Can damage the body without caution. Can become expensive if equipment is required.
Notes: need to pick one you enjoy.

1-1 Sports i.e. martial arts/wrestling:
Pros: Self defense. Extreme muscle and skill gains. Reaction time improvement more so than other sports. Relatively convenient (can be done most anywhere). Meet people.
Cons: Dependent on class's schedule. Can become expensive. Requires dedication.
Notes: Generally highly regulated and very safe.

Oddballs i.e. bowling, archery, weight lifting:
Pros: Can find your passion. Meet people. Flexible range of activity. Something for everyone.
Cons: Not as beneficial as other sports. Can be expensive. Can be difficult to find the right one.

Wrestling. It challenges you mentally and physically. It really builds character and increases your work ethic greatly. It is emotionally difficult because when you lose, you can be pretty embarassed. But don't be, the whole team knows how it feels and they won't judge you...unless you cry (ive seen it). When you win, it is the best feeling in the world. Especially when the reff raises your hand after the match. This sport is a lot about respect, strength, agility, speed, and quick mental decisions
