So for the past 2-3 years I have been playing around in game engines learning programming in both JavaScript and C# and now I am a Senior in High School and want to go to college for it next year. However, not a single college near me or even within a 2 hour drive offers any sort of courses in Video Game programming or even design. I don't want to move to a different state because I currently have a secure job that provides me enough money to live comfortably while I attend school.
So I want to know what school I should attend online and what kind of degree I should go for. Every school I find I check for it's credibility and I always find them to not be. I really would like help because this is the career I would like to do. Help would be very appreciated.

The most common way to become any sort of software developer is to get a degree in computer science, computer engineering or electrical engineering.
Also note that it takes a very broad skillset to make games, 2d and 3d artists, sound designers, musicians, writers, level designers.
Well there nowadays there are so many Universities which are offering Game Development Degree. if you can do programming and if you feel that you can learn Game programming via Online tutorials. Then you get degree from University by Appearing in Game development test, basically Universities in United States are nowadays Offering Honorary degree and Life experience degrees to those people who learned something by themselves and have working experience also in that field than you giving test and in appearing University interview you can be awarded college credits or Even honorary degree. you get information here http://goo.gl/tmJI0S or you can search online.
Get a degree in Computer Science. It will teach you very general skills that doesn't just apply to creating videogames. I assure you that most programmers/engineers working on those big title games (even phone apps) have degrees in Computer Science/Physics/Engineering. Just look at their job postings.
Creating videogames is just one direction in the wide field of software engineering/programming.
Depending on the university, a CS degree wouldn't necessarily point you to videogames but the skills ARE necessary and there's nothing stopping you from creating videogame projects as coursework.
Actually learn programming languages. In order to create games you want to have a good understanding of the python, language. You want to learn Java and more importantly C#. You are going to need to watch lots of videos, take classes because programming can be hard to learn, but once you got the basics down you're good to go! I suggest starting with wibit below is a link to the site give it a few moments after you click for a intermission!: http://9ea842b6.linkbucks.com Thanks, Andrew Wyatt
