Needing help with programming the APN settings on my iphone 4s?

My sister bought me an iphone 4s for my birthday. I am currently with Straighttalk, and I want to keep it that way, so she bought a straighttalk sim card for the phone. I can send/receive calls and text messages, but I cannot access the internet without wifi, although my straighttalk plan includes unlimited data. There is no APN menu or cellular device option on my phone, so apple support told me that the settings are currently locked, and that they couldnt unlock those settings. Those settings are locked by the carrier that the iPhone is locked to, which I believe is AT&T, since that's where the previous owner bought the phone. Apple support also said that my phone has to be unlocked by the carrier in order to edit those settings, and that I should call AT&T and ask them to unlock them. How do I go about this??

AT&T will not unlock it for you because you do not meet any of these following terms on their website so you will have to get the phone activated by them as a prepaid gophone in one of their retail stores and the phone does have to be actived for at least up to 6 months for in order to get the phone unlocked by them online only and once those months are done with you can do the request for the phone to be unlocked online on their website

Simply select the iPhone version you would like to unlock, the mobile carrier to which it is currently locked and enter the IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number. Note: If you are nor sure which carrier your iPhone is locked to, simply select "Unknown" and we will run a check on the carrier first - before you can order the unlock. We will then show if we can currently provide an official unlock and, if so, you will be prompted to a secure payment page.
