Are a loveseat and loveseat sofa the same thing?

I know a loveseat is a small sofa that seats two, but is there a name for a longer sofa that bottom-wise, seats two? I'm picturing a long sofa that has two upright cushions and two seat cushions, where width-wise and elbow-wise, three people fit fine, but one of them would be sitting in the middle where the cushions meet. Is that still a loveseat, regardless of the overall length of the thing? Does it have a different name when it's that big?

Some loveseats do have a longer cushion length, and it may come down to a personal opinion whether a piece of furniture is a short couch or a long loveseat. I do think that the number of cushions determines how a piece will be used; no one likes to sit on the crack between cushions. In general, small size loveseats are 54"; medium loveseats are 64"; long loveseats measure 71" and are most likely to be referred to as a loveseat sofa. The average length of a standard sofa is 76", but some are much longer. All of these are exterior measurements. Cushions for chairs are 18 to 20" wide and long, with some up to 24". So, if each of your longer cushions measure 40" they are probably intended (if needed) to seat up to 4 people, and the piece is a sofa. It seems pretty subjective to me.
