My Logitech Z523 speakers aren't working?

I just bought these speakers about an hour ago and I've hooked everything up properly and they aren't producing any sound. If I go to my volume mixer on my computer, it shows that it is playing sound but I can't hear anything. If I plug my headphones into the side of the right speaker, I can hear my music just fine, but not when it's unplugged. Am I missing something here or are these speakers just defective?

Have you connected the speakers to the right port on your computer?

On desktops, it's usually a green circle at the back of the desktop.
