Why do I feel so different from everyone else if I am ordinary?

When I was younger, I incessantly felt like I was incredibly different from everyone-- I had different interests and I wasn't absorbed in culture and music that others were. People weren't outright mean to me, but it was pretty obvious to me as a child that other girls weren't interested in befriending me at all. As time passed, I slowly became less and less of an individual and conformed to the mold that people of my age and sex are supposed to fill.
I recently moved to a new school in a new state. No one knew who I was, so I could blend in and be just like everyone else without anyone thinking of me as that weird kid they knew growing up who tried to stop being weird. And I guess I fit in now because the type of people that wouldn't have talked to me are now interested in being my friend. I enjoy their company, of course, but I can't help but feel they still secretly think I'm weird or misfit or what have you.

Why would I feel this way? Someone please help because I can't put up with this uneasiness much longer. What the hell is wrong with me?

It seems you have that fear only because you were mistreated at your first school. People's attitudes are always changing or fickle. Just try to remember people are going to think and do what they want without much chances of them changing for anyone unless they had been struck by lightening. The bottom line is just to be yourself, be true to yourself, consistent with your feelings and principles. You will have a positive, respected attraction if you are always honest with yourself and true to your beliefs.

Nothing is wrong with you. If there will always be a place where someone a little 'different' will be ostracized, it will be in school. My son was just like this. He could have let others get to him, or 'conform' and be a sheep like everyone else, but retained his individuality and became a great guy. We often feel 'safer' if we are just like the others around us, and that's okay just now. But In a few years, your individuality will again show through and you'll breathe a sigh of relief that the world can see you for who you really are, out there among more diverse personalities.

I feel the same way, I am a bit older then you, but I completely understand. As weird as this sounds I think it is because the world is changing, you dont fit in because you can feel it deep down inside yourself. You have to try to find your self and shape what you are. You are special, and you can't fit in because you know your not meant to. I still feel lost, I tried to turn to religion, researched the heck out of youtube, read most of the bibles and books that are supposed to hold the answers, and I am only getting little bits of information. I suggest keep feeling your different and know their are others like you that feel the same. Its okay just look inside yourself and try to find the key to why you came back here.
